Compare · JuJu vs SiteGround · dated 15 August 2026

The $2.99 host is $17.99 next year.

SiteGround's intro is real. So is the renewal. JuJu is one price from day one: site, domain registration and yearly renewal, 10 mailboxes. No jump.

We're not the cheapest host. We're the one that just works.

Who this is for

The renewal-invoice switcher

This page is for the SiteGround customer who liked year one and just opened the renewal invoice.

You have a brochure or small-business WordPress site. You want email at your domain. You want the domain to stay paid without a second bill. You don't want to re-shop hosting every 12 months because the promo expired.

You're not moving a 50 GB WooCommerce catalog. You're not shopping "unlimited sites on one shared box." You want one site that stays put.

Still inside SiteGround's first 30 days? Their refund window is open. Past it? We migrate you free. If you have time left on the old host, we add that time to your JuJu plan — up to 12 months, at our price. We don't write a check.

SiteGround includes unlimited email; we include 10. The wedge here is the renewal jump and the domain after year one — not the mailbox count.

3-year cost

Year one is the trap

PathYear 1Year 2Year 33-year total
JuJu annual$199$199$199$597
SiteGround StartUp + .com$35.88 + $0$215.88 + $22.99$215.88 + $22.99$513.62
SiteGround GrowBig + .com$59.88 + $0$359.88 + $22.99$359.88 + $22.99$825.62

Being straight with you: StartUp can come out cheaper over three years — $513.62 vs our $597 — if you stay on one site and never need staging. After the jump it's $17.99/mo plus about $1.92/mo for the .com — roughly $19.91/mo, next to JuJu's $16.58/mo annual with renewal already in.

GrowBig is the SiteGround plan that includes staging — the feature JuJu ships on every site. That path is $825.62 over three years vs JuJu's $597. Either way, $2.99 is not the price of the host. $17.99 is.

Assumptions: one WordPress site, one .com, annual billing, no tax. SiteGround at the 15 Aug 2026 published intro then published 12-month renewal for years 2–3; domain free year 1 then $22.99/yr regular; email $0 (included). JuJu $199/yr, domain + 10 mailboxes included. Promo prices change — these are the numbers on the pages we opened 15 Aug 2026.

The wedge

Renewal trap plus the domain. Email isn't the gap.

SiteGround includes email — unlimited mailboxes. We include 10. We're not going to pretend we win the mailbox count.

What they don't include is the domain after year one. "Free domain" is the first year; their own FAQ says so. Year two, the .com is $22.99 on their domain page unless a later sale says otherwise.

What they also don't include is a price that stays put. StartUp is $2.99, then $17.99. GrowBig is $4.99, then $29.99. That's the product.

JuJu is $19.95/mo or $199/yr. Domain registration and yearly renewal sit inside that number. Ten mailboxes sit inside it. Redis sits inside it. The AI on your site sits inside it. The invoice in month 13 matches month 1.

Honest limits

One SKU. We'll tell you when it doesn't fit.

This is one plan: 10 GB NVMe, 256 MB PHP, ten mailboxes, one WordPress site. It's built for a brochure site, a consultant site, a small-business marketing site. It is not a huge WooCommerce catalog, a membership network, or a media library that already eats 10 GB.

SiteGround GrowBig gives you 50 GB and unlimited sites on one plan. If you need that shape, stay there — or talk to us about a fleet, not this SKU. We won't imply we're the same shared box, and we won't imply we're bigger. We're the boring, complete, one-site plan.

Leaving SiteGround?

FAQ

SiteGround switch, answered

Does SiteGround really jump from $2.99 to $17.99?
Yes, on the StartUp plan as published 15 August 2026. The WordPress hosting page lists $2.99/mo prepaid for 12 months, "renews at $17.99/mo." GrowBig is $4.99, renews at $29.99. GoGeek is $7.99, renews at $44.99.
Is their domain actually free?
For the first year, on .com / .org / .net, when you buy hosting. After that you pay their regular domain price — .com regular was $22.99/yr on 15 August 2026. Domain fees are also excluded from their 30-day hosting refund.
Do you include email too?
Yes — ten real mailboxes at your domain, with webmail, spam filtering, and one-click setup for Outlook and phones. SiteGround includes unlimited mailboxes; if you need more than ten boxes, say so before you switch — this SKU stops at ten.
Is the domain renewal really included every year?
Yes, on the live plan: registration and yearly renewal are part of the flat price. Already own the domain? Transfer it in, or leave it where it is and point DNS at us.
How long does migration take?
Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days. We need your WordPress admin login; we handle files, database, email, and DNS. We keep your old site answering until the move is done, then we switch. You shouldn't see a gap. DNS still has to update; we hold the old site up until it does. If you have time left on the old host, we add that time to your JuJu plan — up to 12 months, at our price. We don't write a check.
What if I don't like it?
60 days to ask for the hosting refund. After that, cancel anytime; monthly plans aren't refunded past day 60. Annual plans past 60 days may get a prorated unused-month refund at our discretion. See our Refund Policy.
