Compare · JuJu vs Flywheel · dated 21 August 2026

WP Engine's other door. Still no mail. Still no .com.

Flywheel is a WP Engine product — the footer says so. Starter is $25/mo billed $300/yr. They don't host your mail and they don't register your domain. JuJu is leftover-time credit, domain registration and yearly renewal, 10 mailboxes. $19.95/mo or $199/yr. Price is the price.

We're not the cheapest host. We're the one that just works.

Who this is for

A designer-friendly invoice that still isn't the whole host

This page is for the person who opened Flywheel, saw $25, and thought they were buying WordPress, mail, and a .com from a small host.

You run one WordPress site — brochure, consultant, small shop front. You want the site built and kept working. You want you@yourdomain.com without opening Google Workspace. You want the .com on the same invoice. If you have time left on Flywheel, we add that time to your JuJu plan — up to 12 months, at our price. We don't write a check.

You're not buying Blueprints for a 30-site agency book, not buying phone support on a higher tier, and not trying to match WP Engine's platform under a friendlier dashboard. We won't pretend we're that machine. Full dated WP Engine table: /vs-wpengine. Switch math if you're already leaving: /wp-engine-alternative.

Flywheel includes FlyCache, Fastly CDN, nightly backups, staging, and 24/7 chat. This isn't “they have no platform.” The wedge is leftover-time credit, domain, 10 mailboxes, and a price that is the price — plus the honest fact that Flywheel is WP Engine's other door.

3-year cost

The $300 year still isn't mail or a .com

PathHostingDomainEmail3-year total
JuJu annual$597$0$0$597
Flywheel Starter annual + .com + Workspace$900~$10–23/yr+$252~$1,182–$1,221

We use the published Starter card: $300/yr. We do not invent a Tiny price, and we do not invent a month-to-month toggle we didn't see in the HTML. Plugin-update add-on at $8/site/mo would add $288 over three years if you turned it on — supporting, not the headline.

Assumptions: one WordPress site, annual Starter at the published $300/yr × 3 = $900. No tax, no visit or storage overages. Domain is a separate registrar, about $10–23/yr. Email is Google Workspace Business Starter at the list $7/user/mo (one user; promos exist) = $252 over three years — same list figure the other compare pages use. JuJu $199/yr with leftover-time credit, domain, 10 mailboxes, and Redis included.

The JuJu argument

Leftover-time credit. Domain. Ten mailboxes. Price is the price.

Flywheel is a real managed WordPress platform — FlyCache, Fastly, Blueprints, billing transfer, 24/7 chat. If you need that agency workflow on WP Engine's rails, pay for it.

What they don't sell on Starter is someone who builds the WordPress site and fixes it. Managed Plugin Updates is an $8/site/mo add-on that mentions AI. That's plugin updates. We put an AI site engineer on every site.

They say they don't offer email. They say they don't register domains. You'll buy a registrar (about $10–23/yr) and Google Workspace (list $7/user/mo; promos exist) — a second and third bill. We put the domain's registration and yearly renewal, plus ten mailboxes, on the same $19.95 / $199 invoice.

If you have time left on Flywheel, we add that time to your JuJu plan — up to 12 months, at our price. We don't write a check. Their visit cap is 25,000/mo at $1 per 1,000 over; we don't publish a visit cap. Don't read this as “same box, less money.” We won't invent a speed test and we won't claim WP Engine's machine.

Honest limits

A different machine — and they have the agency tools

10 GB NVMe, 256 MB PHP, one site, ten mailboxes. Flywheel Starter is also 10 GB and one site — the similarity stops there. They sell Freelance (10 sites, $96/mo billed $1,150/yr) and Agency (30 sites, $242/mo billed $2,900/yr). Phone support and a dedicated account manager sit on higher tiers. We don't publish that platform, and we won't imply it.

This SKU is a brochure / SMB WordPress site — not a huge WooCommerce catalog, not a high-concurrency membership app, not 30 client sites with billing transfer. No contractual uptime SLA (we target 99.9%; their homepage FAQ cites 99.9% too). Not white-label — clients see JuJu. Running several sites? Let's talk volume.

Leaving Flywheel?

Leftover-time credit, domain, 10 mailboxes. The price is the price.

60-day money-back on hosting · Cancel anytime · Free white-glove migration (typical 1–2 business days) · Leftover old-host time becomes JuJu time — up to 12 months, at our price

Hosting refund: first 60 days of the initial purchase, one guarantee refund per customer (Refund Policy). Domains already provisioned are not refunded.

FAQ

Flywheel switch, answered

Is Flywheel still its own company?
No. The pricing and home pages we opened on 21 August 2026 are copyright WPEngine, Inc. The homepage greets you with Flywheel + Elementor. Same family as WP Engine — a different door. Full WP Engine table: /vs-wpengine.
What does Flywheel Starter actually cost?
Live card, 21 August 2026: $25/mo, billed at $300/year, “includes 2 months free.” That's the number we use for three-year math. A separate month-to-month toggle was not in the HTML we fetched. The refund FAQ names Tiny and Startup; Tiny is not on the public grid we opened, so that price is unpublished here. We will not borrow $13 or $15 from a third-party write-up.
Do they include email or a domain?
No. Pricing FAQ: they do not offer email accounts; they recommend Google Apps. DNS help: “Flywheel doesn't offer domain name registration at this time.” A domain on their side is a separate registrar, about $10–23/yr.
Do they charge if I go over 25,000 visits?
Yes — $1 per 1,000 visits over the Starter cap. Storage overage is $1/GB. Their example: 30,000 visits on Starter is a $5 overage that month.
Are you as fast as Flywheel?
We won't invent a speed score. We run LiteSpeed + LSCache, free Redis, NVMe, and an edge cache; they run FlyCache and Fastly on WP Engine's platform. Different machines. Judge the site after migration — that's what the 60 days are for.
60 days vs 60 days?
Same window on the entry plans. Flywheel: 60 days on new Tiny and Startup; Freelance if it has no custom onboarding; Agency and Custom excluded; not for upgrades or renewals. JuJu: 60 days on the initial hosting fee; provisioned domains aren't refunded. See our Refund Policy.
How long does the move take?
Typical 1–2 business days after we have WordPress admin. They also migrate free. Either way, we keep your old site answering until the move is done, then we switch. If you have time left on Flywheel, we add that time to your JuJu plan — up to 12 months, at our price. We don't write a check. Details on /migrate.
